How to play Cabo
Everything that happens at a Cabo table, in the order it happens. A round takes a few minutes; learning it takes one read.
The goal
End the round with the lowest total in your hand. You never see most of your cards, so you win by remembering what you have, finding out what others have, and calling the end at the right moment.
The deal
Two to four players sit at a table. Each gets four cards face down. At the start you get to look at two of your own cards, once. Then they go back down.
The rest of the deck sits in the middle, next to a discard pile.
Your turn
- Draw the top card of the deck. Only you see it.
- Swap it with one of your four cards (the old card goes face up on the discard pile), or discard the card you drew.
- If you discard a power card, you can use its power, or skip it.
Each turn has a timer. Run out and the game moves on without you.
Powers
- 7 or 8
- Peek at one of your own cards
- 9 or 10
- Peek at one card of a rival
- J or Q
- Swap any two cards on the table
- K
- No power. Kings are just points.
Burn
After every turn a Burn button shows for five seconds. The first player to tap it can throw a card that matches the top of the discard pile.
- Your card, right: it goes on the pile and you hold one card fewer.
- Your card, wrong: everyone sees it and you take an extra card as a penalty.
- A rival's card, right: it goes on the pile and you give that player one of your cards.
- A rival's card, wrong: everyone sees it and that card comes to you.
Calling Cabo
When you think your hand is the lowest at the table, call Cabo. Your hand is locked. Every other player gets one more turn, then all cards turn over and get counted.
Ties: if the player who called Cabo is tied for the lowest hand, the caller wins.

The coin pool
Each table has a coin pool that grows with the number of players who join. The lowest hand takes the whole pool. If more than one player wins, the pool is split equally between them.
If players leave mid-game, the last player left at the table takes the full pool.
